CREATING REVENUE IN CHALLENGING TIMES

Butser Ancient Farm is a groundbreaking experimental archaeology site in the Hampshire South Downs National Park.

The Covid-19 Pandemic forced the farm to shut its doors to the public, thereby cutting off its main source of income. To generate a revenue stream during the lockdown, a new online platform named Butser Plus was launched.

Design collaboration

For the project, our in-house marketing department worked with an external web development agency, a UX designer and a PR specialist.

Short lead times meant we needed a graphic designer who could not only design unique branding for Butser Plus but also fit in and collaborate seamlessly with everyone involved.

Dean was recommended to us by a local business that uses Dean for ongoing design support. Because of his experience on similar design projects, he worked alongside the team with speed and flexibility to meet our deadline.

Part of Dean's process was to understand what our business represents and our ethos.

He was very receptive to ideas and referenced existing elements of Butser Ancient Farm's brand to create a strong and distinctive visual identity for the Butser platform — delivering a range of assets including; logo, brand guidelines, textures, typography and icons.

The launch of Butser Plus received widespread national and local news coverage with the website having 800 monthly visitors and almost 10,000 visitors in total, with over 150 current monthly subscribers and this figure is steadily growing.

WHAT MAKES DEAN THE PERFECT DESIGN PARTNER?

We appreciated Dean’s speed and flexibility to fit in with our timescales and also to work collaboratively with others on the project.
